WPProsperent V1.2.1 Upgrade Available

I just uploaded WP Prosperent version 1.2.1 to WordPress and it now should be available in the automatic plugin upgrades.

You will not see a whole lot has been changes but I do recommend that everyone does upgrade to this version for a couple of the changes.

1) We switched the Prosperent Query system we were using. Its a bit complicated to explain, but they have to ways you can query them (search for products). One is a “raw” search and the other is a search that they optimize and do all sort of stuff to it to try to return the best items for your query. It automatically runs several searches to find the “best” items to display. I call this the super optimized search. This is the one we have switched to.

You might see changes on the items being shown on your pages, but I do believe that this new search will do a much better job at finding the most relevant items most of the time. Do remember that this is a computer based search using some words we are sending to the computer so it can’t match everything automatically.

2) There was a very rare situation, that I saw only happen on some test blogs, that if certain things happened the blog would fail to load correctly. This has been fixed and should no longer happen at all.

Since the plugin is on the WordPress site, you can use the auto-upgrade feature built into WP. Your settings will still be there.

v 1.2.1 changed query types so more relevant items should be returned.

if you were using negatives in your global keyword they will no longer work in this version due to the query change – (sorry)

Note- The WPP Pro version will be out soon.
So if you have have lots of blogs to upgrade and you were thinking of using the Pro version I would wait for it. Pretty much every suggestion that was made by you the users and all of my own ideas have gone into the Pro version. It has widgets, a search box with dynamic results, related items, tag searches, both query types, category names, and more. I will have more details soon.

Hi Charles,

It seems when I update, there are two versions that are in my “manage plugins” section of the wp admin. The new version and the old. If I delete the old one it deletes both the new and the old version. Have you seen this come up yet? Using wp version 2.9.2 btw…

There seems to be a problem with Wordpress update for WP Prosperent. It never updates and never comes through.

But otherwise love the plugin and cannot wait to see how the new search improves results.

Hi Steve and Rajiv,

This will work for both of you and anyone else with the issue.
As this was my first plugin going into WP, they have a special system you have to use to upload the files. Well, at one point I accidentally changed the name of it by one character. This causes it to go wacky.

So go to plugins. Deactivate one or both if you have two that arent working.
Then the delete link shows up for it. Delete the files using the yes option.
Then you can add new, and use the WP search searching for wpprosperent, and re-load it in.

This should get you a single copy of the latest version. And it will still have all of your settings as that is saved in the WP db.

Thanks, I did those steps and it seemed to work. Now again though… both versions are showing in the plugins folder.

I also tried to delete via ftp as well. Same result. It is keeping the settings though…

Strange. I tested in on a couple of sites as well as a couple others testing it and we didn’t see this issue. Not sure. I have a lot of sites so if it pops up, I will try to figure it out. The important thing is that its running.

Hi Charles…
Wonderful Plug in!!! I have been using it on all my new sites I have been creating.

I saw that there was an update so I pressed the update automatically button. It says it updated it but it still shows an update available. And it still shows that I am using 1.1 in the plugin section?

Do I have to delete it and then reinstall it? And if I do that, will I loose all my settings for the individual sites and have to reenter them?

Hi Cindy, Glad you like it. Yes, something is weird with the update system. I think I changed a name of a folder in there and its throwing it for a loop. You want to see that v1.2.1 is active. Its OK if you have another version that is not active. But you can also try to delete both and reinstall. All of the plugin settings are stored in the db so you will not lose anything.

Well now this is bizarre. I deleted the plug in . Then I searched for wpprosperent. I found it – it was 1.21. So I uploaded it. Then when I got in it…it showed that I needed to update it. It was still on 1.1

Very weird…

Same prob for me too on two separate blogs. I am seeing both versions and v1.1 continues to show that it needs to be upgraded. If I delete v1 it automatically deletes v1.2.1 It’s not that big of a deal as v1.2.1 is working. I just deactivated v1.1 It’s just annoying that it’s still showing an upgrade available.

Not sure if this info helps. But, even when I upload it as a zip to the mage plugins admin….it creates two instances of it.

Same here . . . deactivated, deleted plugin files using WP delete process. Then installed new version from

Instantly got 2 versions, old and new.

Activated new version, and left old version deactivated.

Not sure if it works or not.

yes, that will work. Its OK if both versions are there, just do as you did; Activate the new version, and leave the old version deactivated.

I’m still trying to figure out why its happening.

OK, the issue of the double plugin has been fixed. It doesn’t effect operation if you are using the correct one, but if you want to fix it, deactivate both, and delete the files. They re-install from the WP plugin search (wpprosperent). Your settings will stay there.

Charles, can the prob be fixed in the download link here as well??? I like to keep all my plug-ins in a file on my hard drive. This way, when I start a new blog, I can easily install all my plug-ins via my FTP program.

Which download link is not correct?
I have deleted all old copies from my S3 account and switched everything that I know of pointing to the download page on WP site. This would be the same one you get in the auto-update. So you can just go to WP and download the zip.

Hi Charles,
when I activate the wpprosperent plugin I cannot see my posts anymore.
Instead I get following error message:
Warning: curl_error(): 118 is not a valid cURL handle resource in /home/…../public_html/……/wp-content/plugins/wpprosperent/library/Prosperent/Api.php on line 340
When I deactivate the plugin everything works out fine.
Do you an idea how to solve this issue? Thanks in advance,

Hi Hajo,

Check with your host to see if curl is installed on your server.
If no, ask them to install it. If yes, ask them if they have any idea why the error is happening.
